Georgia Finishes Homestand With Presbyterian Tuesday

ATHENS-----Georgia (13-8, 1-2 SEC) wraps up a season-long 16-game homestand Tueday against the Blue Hose of Presbyterian at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs saw their 11-game winning streak end Saturday after dropping a doubleheader to #24 Miss. State.
*Georgia claimed game one of the SEC series on Friday at Foley Field, and the teams played two on Saturday due to a 90 percent chance of rain in the forecast for Sunday. Georgia's 11-game winning streak this season was the longest since the 2009 club opened the year 14-0. The Bulldogs began last week with a pair of wins over Western Kentucky including a 26-7 rout of the Hilltoppers. In that contest, Bulldog sophomore C/DH Zack Bowers (.270-2-14) collected seven RBI on a pair of home runs. Georgia's 26-run outburst was the most by the Bulldogs since 1988 when it crushed Jacksonville 27-8.
*In the SEC series with #24 Miss. State, Georgia posted a 2.33 team ERA but hit just .219. MSU scored 11 runs in the series while the Bulldogs tallied nine. Overall, Georgia is batting .286 with a 4.43 ERA and fielding .969.
*The Bulldogs own a 12-0 all-time mark against the Blue Hose (10-9-1) including a 10-1 win last season in Athens. Georgia will start junior LHP Jared Walsh (0-0, 9.00 ERA, 3 IP). It will be his second start and third appearance of the year. PC will counter with redshirt freshman RHP Adam Lesiak (0-0, 4.82 ERA).
*Georgia returns to SEC action Friday at No. 8 LSU (17-4, 1-2 SEC). The Tigers went 1-2 last week versus third-ranked Vanderbilt in Nashville. LSU leads the series with Georgia 60-21-2. The teams last met in 2012 with the Tigers winning the series 2-1 in Baton Rouge. LSU leads the nation in attendance, averaging 10,757. LSU plays host to South Alabama on Wednesday before the Bulldogs arrive in town. Games one and two of the LSU series will be televised by Cox Sports, and CSS will pick up game two.
*Junior 3B/OF Hunter Cole (.366-1-12) has reached base safely in all 21 games this season and he's got a 10-game hitting streak. He has started eight games in left field and 13 at third base this year. For his career, Cole is batting .303-3-12 in 125 games including 124 starts. *Sophomore LHP Ryan Lawlor (2-1, 4.50) enjoyed a successful SEC debut by beating #24 Miss. State 7-1 Friday to extend Georgia's winning streak to 11. He allowed just one unearned run on eight hits in a career-high 7.2 innings. He registered seven strikeouts and did not walk a batter.
*Redshirt sophomore RHP David Sosebee (0-1, 3.48) has combined to toss 11 scoreless innings in his last four relief appearances. He made one appearances against #24 MSU for 2.1 innings.
*In his SEC debut, freshman CF Stephen Wrenn (.289-0-9) batted .300 (3-for-10) with one RBI and perfect fielding in 15 total chances including an assist. For the year, he is fielding 1.000 with 62 putouts and three assists. In the MSU series, he added another diving catch to take away extra bases for an opposing hitter.
About The Blue Hose
Presbyterian College, located in Clinton, S.C., is coached by Elton Pollock who is in his 10th season. The Blue Hose are riding a three-game winning streak after sweeping UNC-Asheville this past weekend to open Big South Conference action. Back on Feb. 19, they tied N.C. Central 8-8 in 13 innings. PC is batting .286 with a 4.68 ERA and a .970 fielding percentage. Junior C/DH Cam McRae paces the offense at .316-3-16 while sophomore third baseman Jacob Midkiff leads the club in batting at .390. PC will start redshirt freshman RHP Adam Lesiak (0-0, 4.82 ERA).
Last year in Georgia's 10-1 win over PC here, Jess Posey went 3-for-4 including his first career home run, a two-run shot that was part of a six-run outburst in the eighth. Hunter Cole added three RBI. Mike Mancuso, Dylan Cole and Patrick Boling all contributed a scoreless inning out of the bullpen.
