*Georgia (8-9, 0-0 SEC) went 6-3 on a season-long nine-game home stand that wrapped up Wednesday. Up next, it opens SEC action Friday at league newcomer Texas A&M (11-7, 0-0 SEC) at 7:35 p.m. ET. Game three of the Aggies series will be televised by Fox Southwest at 1 p.m. ET. Georgia, under the direction of David Perno who is in his 12th year at the helm, is batting .306 with a 4.82 ERA and a .979 fielding percentage. Friday will mark the first-ever meeting between the Bulldogs and Aggies. Both teams were picked to finish fifth in their respective divisions by league coaches in a preseason poll.
*Senior 3B Curt Powell ranks among the SEC leaders with a .419 batting average. He is riding a 13-game hitting streak and during this stretch, he is batting .509 (29-for-57). Powell’s career best is a 14-game streak in 2012. Sophomore 2B and leadoff hitter Nelson Ward has a career-best 10-game hitting streak. During his streak, he is batting .444 (20-for-45).
*Georgia’s rotation gainst Texas A&M will be the same weekend rotation it has used for the first four weekend series: Sean McLaughlin (3-0, 1.80), Fr., RHP; Patrick Boling (1-2, 4.37), RJr., LHP; Luke Crumley (1-2, 6.91), So., RHP. Boling tossed 2.1 scoreless innings of relief with four Ks this past Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Aggies will go with senior RHP Kyle Martin (1-2, 4.07) and sophomore RHP Daniel Mengden (3-1, 2.03) in the first two games. Sunday's starter is TBA.
*Freshman RHP/OF Sean McLaughlin improved to 3-0, 1.80 ERA as the Friday night starter. In his last outing, he tossed six scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in a 12-0 win over Liberty. He has appeared in 11 games as a position player, batting .208-0-3. Five different Bulldogs have pitched and hit this year. Sophomore RF/Closer Jared Walsh is a regular two-way player. Walsh is 1-1 with a 0.90 ERA and 2 saves in seven outings to finish games. He is batting .347-1-8 in 13 games, with 12 starts in right field.
*Senior Kyle Farmer, who served as the starting shortstop for Team USA this past summer, is leading the squad with 20 RBI. He is fielding .975 in 81 total chances and ranks third on the team in batting at .359.
*Senior LHP Blake Dieterich leads the team with a 0.50 ERA in eight relief appearances covering a span of 18 innings. He has 80 career appearances which ranks eighth in Bulldog history. He tossed two scoreless innings with two Ks this past Tuesday against Appalachian State.
