*Up next, the Bulldogs (5-7) play host to Liberty (9-3) in a three-game series starting Friday (7 p.m./3 p.m./2 p.m.), and the Flames feature a 2.41 team ERA. Georgia leads the all-time series 6-1 including a 5-3 win last year in Athens.
*Georgia's three-game winning streak was snapped this past Tuesday as Western Carolina outlasted the Bulldogs 12-7 in a marathon contest that saw the teams combine to use 15 pitchers. It lasted three hours and 40 minutes, not counting a one hour and 22-minute rain delay.
*Last weekend, Georgia swept UAB. After scoring just 34 runs in its first eight games of the year, the Bulldogs tallied 33 runs against the Blazers while posting a 1.67 team ERA. Also in the series, Georgia raised its team batting average 36 points to .302. Currently, it stands at .304.
*Sophomore OF/LHP Jared Walsh posted a career-high four-hit game this past Tuesday versus WCU. Walsh is batting .361-1-6 in nine outfield starts and is 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA and one save in five appearances.
*Senior 3B Curt Powell (.365-0-8) has an eight-game hitting streak. He hit .438 (7-for-16, 6 RBI) last week against UAB and went 2-for-5 with an RBI versus WCU.
*Senior SS Kyle Farmer and sophomore 2B Nelson Ward headlined the offense last week. Farmer batted .692 (9-for-13) with four doubles and six RBI while Ward hit .611 (11-for-18, 4 RBI). For the season, Ward is batting a team-best .407 while Farmer is next at .381. In the UAB series, Farmer became the second Bulldog to have a 5-hit game this year (Curt Powell vs. Belmont) while Ward had his second 4-hit game. Also, Farmer moved in to a tie for fifth in the Georgia record book with 58 career doubles including seven this year which leads the SEC.
*Freshman C Zack Bowers blasted two home runs last week, batting .333 (4-for-12) with five RBI. He leads the team with three home runs in only 23 at bats. The Bulldogs first six home runs of the year were solo shots until Bowers' two-run blast this past Sunday.
*Freshman RHP/OF Sean McLaughlin improved to 2-0, 2.57 ERA as the Friday night starter. He started in right field Sunday and went 2-for-3 with a two-run single on an 0-2 pitch to ignite a six-run outburst to snap a scoreless game. Senior LHP Blake Dieterich leads the team with a 0.64 ERA in six relief appearances covering a span of 14 innings.
*Georgia will employ the same rotation versus Liberty that it used the first three weekend series.
G1: Freshman RHP Sean McLaughlin (2-0, 2.57 ERA) vs. Carson Herndon (1-1, 2.35), RHP, So.
G2: Redshirt junior LHP Patrick Boling (1-2, 6.28 ERA) vs. Brooks Roy (2-0, 0.50 ERA), RHP, Sr.
