ATHENS-----Up next, Georgia start a three-game set with Binghamton here Friday at 5 p.m.

Georgia, under the direction of Scott Stricklin, enters the series with a .251 batting average, a 6.56 ERA and an impressive .986 Fielding Percentage. Junior OF/3B Hunter Cole ranks among the SEC leaders in batting with a team-best .433 average. Cole and sophomore INF Jess Posey are tied for the team lead in RBI with seven each.

Georgia will go with the same rotation it employed last weekend at #4 FSU, featuring sophomore LHP Ryan Lawlor (1-1, 8.00), sophomore RHP Sean McLaughlin (0-1, 11.12) and senior LHP Patrick Boling (0-1, 5.40). In two games this week, the pitchers have combined to go 1-1 with a 3.50 ERA, 19 strikeouts and only five walks.

The Bearcats, coached by Tom Sinicki, are batting .248, own a 6.95 ERA and are fielding .979. Binghamton went 1-2 at Duke and 2-2 versus James Madison as its first 20 games are on the road. The Bearcats, who are located in Vestal, N.Y., are projected to be an NCAA Regional team and the favorite to win the America East Conference for the second year in a row. They return their entire starting lineup from 2013. Last year, they went 30-25 (16-13 AEC) and played in the NCAA Raleigh (N.C.) Regional. Senior outfielder Bill Bereszniewicz earned America East Player of the Week honors this past Tuesday after batting .429 (6-for-14) with four extra-base hits and four stolen bases. He is batting .346 with six RBI. The Bearcats have announced only two of their starting pitchers, going with junior RHP Jack Rogalla (1-1, 4.09) in game one and sophomore RHP Jake Cryts (1-0, 6.48) in game two.

Fast Facts On The Bulldog Lineup

*Junior Hunter Cole has enjoyed an excellent start, batting a team-best .433-1-7. He displayed perfect fielding in 17 total chances in left field, and the last two games he made his first career starts at 3B (1E in 5 chance). Against #4 FSU, Cole hit .375 (3-for-8) with a double, home run and three RBI.  He has hit safely in 7 of 8 games this season. Cole is projected as a premium pick in the 2014 MLB draft by several organizations.

*Freshman centerfielder Stephen Wrenn is 5-for-5 in stolen bases this year to lead the squad and this past Wednesday made arguably the best catch in CF in the last few years. He is batting .281, has a seven-game hitting streak and perfect fielding this year in 20 chances. He made his debut in CF in the season opener and batted leadoff against Ga. Southern. He had 3 SB in the 11-3 win. Before Wrenn, the last time Georgia had a freshman CF start a season opener was 2009 (Zach Cone) and to bat leadoff in a season opener was outfielder Johnathan Taylor (2009 in LF). Cone and Taylor would alternate in LF/CF that year. Before Wrenn, the last Bulldog to have 3 SB in a game was Taylor vs. Quinnipiac in 2009.

*Junior SS and co-captain Nelson Ward (.214-1-5) is fielding an impressive .978 (1E in 45 chances). Ward and Hunter Cole are the only two Bulldogs to reach base in all eight games this year. Ward batted .417-1-4 in the Ga. Southern series and then went 0-7 with 3 BB at #4 FSU. He did not make an error in either series. Due to an injury to freshman Mike Bell, Ward, a two-year starter at 2B, is making his first career starts at SS.

*Georgia looks to get a pair of projected starters back this weekend in freshman shortstop Mike Bell and junior two-way standout Jared Walsh.  Bell is on the mend from a broken hand and made his debut this past Tuesday as a pinch runner and played two innings at second base. Walsh, who can play 1B/OF and pitch, will see his first action of the season on Saturday. Walsh is slated to start on the mound against Ga. Tech Tuesday at Foley Field. Note first pitch against the Yellow Jackets will be at 7:05 p.m. as the game will be televised by CSS.
