Georgia Men And Women Both Finish Sixth at 2001 SEC Cross Country Championships

AUBURN, Ala. -- The University of Georgia men and women both placed sixth Monday morning at the 2001 SEC Cross Country Championships at the Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn. The men tallied 165 points, while the women tallied 176 points.

The men were led by freshman Mike Swope who earned All-SEC honors, placing 10th overall with a career-best time of 24:46.75 over the 8,000 meter course.

Swope was followed by junior Adam Tribble (31st, 25:38.93), freshman Pat Gavin (39th, 26:03.96), freshman Gregg Fell (43rd, 26:09.51) and freshman Patrick Skehan (48th, 26:22.56) to round out the scoring for the Bulldogs.

The Arkansas men took their 11th straight SEC title and 28th straight conference title, scoring 24 points. David Kimani of Alabama claimed his second SEC individual men's title, covering the course in 23:46.93.
