ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia sophomore Chanice Porter has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Women's Field Athlete of the Week, according to a league announcement on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs have now won five SEC weekly honors this season.

Porter, a native of Pratville, Jamaica, sailed a career-long distance of 21 feet, 2 ¾ inches on her second attempt in the long jump to win at the Doc Hale VT Elite Meet in Blacksburg, Va., over the weekend.

Measuring no less than 20-5 during her three attempts, Porter shot to No. 1 on the national performance list and No. 3 in the Lady Bulldog record books.  This is the top effort for the Georgia women since Hyleas Fountain set the school record of 21-7.25 to win the 2004 NCAA Championships.

Georgia will return to action at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas, and the Husky Classic in Seattle, Wash., over the weekend.
