DES MOINES --- The Lady Bulldogs finished tied for 21st with 14 points as action concluded at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday.

The Georgia men scored two points at the meet and finished 64th with Florida (50) winning the men's team crown.  On the women's side, LSU rolled to a national team title after scoring 76 points.

Four Southeastern Conference teams finished in the top 10 in the men's team race as six SEC teams brought home top-25 honors for the women.  In addition, Texas A&M, who will be joining the conference next season, finished third in both team races.

This marks the best finish and most points scored at an NCAA outdoor meet for the Lady Bulldogs since taking ninth in 2007 with 24 points.  It is the sixth time the Georgia women have finished in the top 25 outdoor since 2003.  The Bulldog men have now scored at 15 consecutive NCAA Outdoor Championships.

"We definitely did not end the season the way we had planned or expected," said Bulldog head coach Wayne Norton.  "This was a situation where we weren't able to do things that we're capable of and it's quite disappointing.  I don't think we gave it our best shot at this meet.  There were only a few bright spots for us and success won't come to you at this meet with that type of performance.  But there's nothing we can do about it now but try and figure out what will improve our team finishes in the future."

Only sophomore Caleb Whitener competed for Georgia during the meet's final day.  Whitener, who had put together a string of five personal-best shot put performances in a row, finished 15th after reaching 60 feet, 10 ½ inches on his opening attempt.  Although short of his 64-1.25 career best set at the NCAA East Prelims, Whitener posted five 60-foot outings in 2012.

This marked Whitener's first trip to the NCAA Championship finals as he completes the meet with a Second Team All-America performance.
