DES MOINES, Iowa --- Georgia's track and field teams won another two events as the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, wrapped up on Saturday.

This added to the four victories the Bulldogs had tallied earlier in the weekend at one of the teams' more competitive meets of the season.

"We had an incredible successful meet that has solidified my opinion that our teams have been consistently good for the last five weeks," said Bulldog head coach Wayne Norton.  "Each of our event areas is looking really strong.  Carly (Hamilton) was great again and the men sprinters, led by Johnathan Smith, and the entire middle distance group have gotten a lot better recently.  It's going to be a good month of May."

The Bulldogs logged their first victory of the day in the sprint medley relay, marking Georgia's second consecutive win in the event at Drake.  Freshmen Brandon Thompson, Reggie Glover and Derrick White joined with junior Charles Grethen to register a time of 3:18.22.

In 2013, Pierce Vincent, Daniel Grass, Drew Branch and Grethen earned top honors in the event after running a 3:17.72.

Complementing Megan Malasarte's win in the 800 meters on Friday, junior Carly Hamilton won the 1500 by more than two seconds after recording a 4:17.58 on Saturday.

Sophomore Ashinia Miller is now four-for-four on hitting at least 60 feet in the shot put as he finished third.  Miller recovered from two opening fouls to launch an effort of 60-6.50.

In the sprints, senior Johnathan Smith ran a 10.30 (10.299) to take third in the 100 finals behind TCU's Ronnie Baker (10.298).  Smith recorded his seventh consecutive time on Friday between 10.20-10.38 in the 100 this season to win his heat and qualify for the finals.

Smith was also the anchor of the 4x100 team as they ran a 39.61 to take fourth in the finals.  Jamario Calhoun, Glover and Thompson exchanged the baton and left the track with Georgia's second-fastest time of the season by .03 seconds.

The Bulldogs concluded the meet by taking fifth in the 4x400 finals.  Sophomore Maurice Freeman, White, Calhoun and junior Drew Branch ran a 3:06.17 to trim a second off their prelims time and pull closer to their fastest time of the year.

Branch opened his day by running the second-fastest time of his season to take fifth in the 400 hurdles.  Branch completed his lap in 51.16 to be the top SEC finisher.

Also, freshman Asianna Covington had a third throw of 184-1 for sixth place in the hammer throw.

In the men's distance medley relay, sophomore Zack Sims, freshman Ayrian Evans, sophomore Wade Voyles and junior Brandon Lord ran a 9:51.85 to take seventh.

The Bulldogs take next weekend off before returning to Athens for the Georgia Invitational on May 10.  This will be Georgia's final meet before the SEC Championships.
