Select Georgia Crew Competes At War Eagle Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. --- While a majority of Georgia's track and field team members rested over the weekend, a select crew traveled to Auburn, Ala., for the War Eagle Invitational on Saturday.

Sophomore Stella Christoforou had a season-best time of 4:36.40 to win the 1500-meter run as freshman Sarah Perry earned runner-up honors with a 4:43.19.

Fellow sophomore Charlie Sparks tallied his third collegiate victory in the steeplechase with a time of 9:28.94.  Behind Sparks was senior Nick Long, who took second with a mark of 9:38.89.  Also of note, freshman Brendan Hoban ran his first steeplechase at Georgia and took fourth (9:42.70).

The Lady Bulldogs went 3-4 in the steeplechase.  Sophomore Savannah Kirk finished third after completing her laps in 11:08.16 while freshman Erika Ramsey had a personal-best time of 11:10.61.

In the men's 1500, junior Danny Neff was the second collegiate finisher (third overall) with a time of 3:57.54.

Freshman Justin Scott-Wesley, who was making his debut for the Bulldogs after focusing on spring football, finished 15th in the 100 prelims after clocking a time of 10.79.

Georgia returns to action at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, on April 26-28.  A group of Bulldog throwers will also make the trip to San Diego for the Triton Invitational over the weekend.
