ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia swimming and diving teams will conclude the 2013 portion of their home schedule on Friday as they entertain Emory.
The meet against the Division III power will begin at 5 p.m. There is no cost for admission to Gabrielsen Natatorium inside the Ramsey Center.
The second-ranked Lady Bulldogs are off to a 5-0 start, including a 3-0 record against SEC opponents. The No. 6 Bulldogs are 4-1 and 2-1. The Emory women, who have won four straight and six overall Division III national titles, and the Emory men are both 2-1 on the season.
The Emory meet will be Georgia's last competition before the Auburn Fall Invitational next weekend. Georgia's next dual meet will be Jan. 4 against home against North Carolina State.
"We are pleased with the way our training has been going," Georgia coach Jack Bauerle said. "We need to look at some people in some other events before the invitational, so we'll put some people in some different places. But the goals don't change. We want to see our kids racing hard, finishing strong and posting fast times."
Friday's meet will reunite the McDermott sisters as Amber is a junior for the Lady Bulldogs and Courtney is a senior for the Eagles. They are not expected to compete head to head in any events. Said Amber with a laugh, "I'll be cheering her on under my breath during her races."
The Lady Bulldogs once again will be putting their all-sports school record for consecutive home wins on the line. Georgia has won 85 straight at Gabrielsen Natatorium dating back to 1995.
