Bulldogs' Stewart Named SEC Freshman Of The Week

ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia swimmer Ty Stewart has been chosen as the SEC Male Freshman of the Week, according to an announcement Tuesday by the league office.


Stewart, a native of Hattiesburg, Miss., made his collegiate debut last Wednesday in the Bulldogs' win over Georgia Tech. Stewart won the 200 individual medley in 1:50.44, came in second in the 200 backstroke in 1:51.37 and placed third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:51.42.

Stewart and the Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday at 3 p.m. when they host Florida in the home opener. There is no charge for admission at Gabrielsen Natatorium located inside the Ramsey Center.
