Nine Georgia Swimmers Set To Compete In Pan Pacifics

ATHENS, Ga. -- Nine swimmers with ties to the Georgia program will be competing this week in the Pan Pacific Championships in Australia.

Current swimmers Nicolas Fink, Hali Flickinger, Chase Kalisz and Maddie Locus and former swimmers Andrew Gemmell, Melanie Margalis and Shannon Vreeland will represent the United States. The Canada roster features current swimmers Brittany MacLean and Chantal Van Landeghem.

The meet will take place Thursday through Monday in Gold Coast, Australia, and will feature more than 300 swimmers.

Here are the events in which the Bulldogs are entered:

Fink: 100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke

Flickinger: 200 backstroke, 200 butterfly, , 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley

Gemmell: 400 freestyle, 1,500 freestyle, 10K open water

Kalisz: 200 butterfly, 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley

Locus: 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 100 butterfly

MacLean: 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 800 freestyle, 1,500 freestyle

Margalis: 200 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley, 400 individual medley

Vreeland: 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley

Van Landeghem: 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle
