IRVINE, Calif. --- Georgia's Chase Kalisz finished second in the men's 400-meter individual medley late Friday in the Phillips 66 National Championships.
Kalisz, a rising junior, stopped the clock in 4:11.52, trailing only Tyler Clary's 4:09.51. Signee Jay Litherland placed fourth in 4:14.93 and signee Gunnar Bentz won the consolation final with a time of 4:15.24.
In the women's 400-meter IM, former Lady Bulldog Melanie Margalis came in third in 4:37.84. Rising junior Hali Flickinger won the B final in 4:39.26, followed by rising sophomore Emily Cameron in third at 4:44.64 and rising senior Amber McDermott in fifth at 4:45.79.
Rising sophomore Olivia Smoliga came in third in the women's 50-meter backstroke as she touched in 28.49. Signee Kylie Stewart placed fourth in the B final in 29.29 and former Lady Bulldog Megan Romano came in eighth in 29.68.
Rising junior Nicolas Fink finished seventh in the men's 50-meter breaststroke in 28.01.
In the women's 100-meter butterfly, former Lady Bulldog Shannon Vreeland came in eighth in 1:00.00.
