ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia men’s swimming team will have 11 entries at the NCAA Championships, according to the meet selections released on Wednesday.
The NCAAs will be held March 28-30 in Indianapolis. The Bulldogs have finished in the top 10 seven times in the last nine seasons.
The Bulldogs will be represented by senior Martin Grodzki; juniors Will Freeman, Andrew Gemmell and Doug Reynolds; sophomores Nic Fink and Jared Markham; and freshmen Matt Ellis, Chase Kalisz, Matias Koski, Garrett Powell and Ty Stewart.
“We’ve got a nice mix of veterans and newcomers going to the NCAAs,” Georgia coach Jack Bauerle said. “I’m excited about this group and I can’t wait to see how the guys perform. We’ve got some pretty lofty goals. Getting to the meet is a point of pride for any athlete, but now it’s time for them to show what they can do.”
Grodzki won the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyle titles at the 2012 NCAAs in Federal Way, Wash.
Kalisz was picked as the SEC Male Freshman of the Year after winning the 200- and 400-yard individual medley crowns at the SEC Championship last month in College Station, Texas. Fink (100-yard breaststroke) and Koski (500-yard freestyle) also claimed SEC titles.
