ATHENS, Ga. --- Headlined by SEC champions Martin Grodzki, Nic Fink and Doug Reynolds, the Georgia men's swimming team will have eight participants at the NCAA Championships later this month.
The NCAAs for the men will be held March 22-24 in Federal Way, Wash. The Bulldogs have finished in the top 10 four straight years and seven times in the last eight seasons.
Grodzki won the 500 and 1,650 freestyle titles at the SEC Championships last month. He is seeded fifth in the 1,650 and sixth in the 500 for the NCAAs. Grodzki also was invited in the 400 individual medley. Fink swept the breaststroke events at the SECs and was named the league's Freshman of the Year. Fink is seeded sixth in the 100 and seventh in the 200, and he also will compete in the 200 individual medley. Reynolds claimed the SEC title in the 100 butterfly, in which he is seeded ninth for the NCAAs. Reynolds also will participate in the 50 and 100 freestyle at the NCAAs.
Joining Grodzki, Fink and Reynolds at the Weyerhauser/King County Aquatic Center will be Michael Arnold, Peter Benner, Will Freeman, Andrew Gemmell and Jared Markham.
"We're excited about the group we're taking to the NCAAs," Georgia coach Jack Bauerle said. "These guys have worked hard this season to get to this meet. Making it to the NCAAs is a point of pride for any swimmer. Our goal is another top-10 finish, and we feel like that's a realistic goal with this group."
The NCAAs for the women will take place March 15-17 at Auburn.
