ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia divers will be competing in the Zone B Championships Monday through Wednesday, trying to get a qualifying score to join their swimming counterparts at the NCAA Championships later this month.
The Zone B Championships will take place at Auburn's Martin Aquatic Center, the site of the women's NCAA Championships March 15-17. The men's NCAAs will take place March 22-24 in Federal Way, Wash.
The only way for divers to reach the NCAAs is to advance from one of the five Zone meets. Zone B this year will have 10 women and eight men move on.
The Lady Bulldogs' team is made up of Ann-Perry Blank, Ansley Long, Darcie O'Brien and Landon Watters. Owen Blank and Alex Watson will represent the Bulldogs.
"This will be an extremely competitive meet," Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. "With so few spots up for grabs, there won't be much margin for error. But we've been working toward this meet, and we're looking forward to the opportunity to compete."
Women's 1-meter preliminaries begin at noon Monday with finals to follow, and the men's 3-meter event will get underway at 4:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the groups will switch places with men's 1-meter in the morning and women's 3-meter in the afternoon. The platform diving events will take place Wednesday with the men's event beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the women set for a 4:30 p.m. start.
Live scoring for the meet will be available through divemeets.com.
