ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia swimmer Chase Kalisz has been chosen as the Southeastern Conference Male Freshman of the Week, according to an announcement Tuesday by the league office.
Kalisz, a native of Bel Air, Md., won three events in the Bulldogs' meet with Texas on Saturday at Gabrielsen Natatorium. He took the 400 individual medley title with a time of 3:49.83, he claimed the 200 butterfly in 1:47.85 and he won the 200 breaststroke in 1:59.29.
In two meets since joining the Bulldogs in December, Kalisz is 6-for-6 in his individual events. He was named the SEC Freshman of the Week Jan. 8 after posting victories in the 200 butterfly, the 200 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley in a sweep of North Carolina State and Savannah College of Art & Design.
Kalisz and the Bulldogs will return to action Jan. 26 at Tennessee.
