ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia swimming teams will begin the 2014 portion of their schedule on Saturday when they entertain North Carolina State.
Saturday's meet at Gabrielsen Natatorium will begin at 2 p.m. There is no cost for admission.
The fourth-ranked Lady Bulldogs are undefeated at 6-0 and they claimed the team title at the Auburn Fall Invitational, while the No. 10 Bulldogs are 5-1. Georgia's last competition was the Auburn Fall Invitational Nov. 22-24.
Melanie Margalis is No. 2 in the 200 individual medley, No. 3 in the 400 individual medley, No. 4 in the 100 breaststroke and No. 5 in the 200 breaststroke nationally. Amber McDermott is third in the 500 freestyle and sixth in the 1,000 freestyle. Shannon Vreeland stands fifth in the 200 freestyle and eighth in the 500 freestyle. Brittany MacLean is No. 6 in the 1,650 freestyle, No. 7 in the 1,000 freestyle, No. 8 in the 200 freestyle and No. 9 in the 500 freestyle. Hali Flickinger is ninth in the 200 butterfly and 10th in the 400 individual medley, while Olivia Smoliga is No. 9 in the 100 backstroke and No. 10 in the 100 freestyle. Annie Zhu is No. 6 in the 200 breaststroke, Chantal Van Landeghem is seventh in the 50 freestyle and Rachel Zilinskas is No. 9 in the 1,000 freestyle.
Ty Stewart is No. 4 in the 200 backstroke, while Nicolas Fink is seventh in the 200 breaststroke and 10th in the 100 breaststroke. Matias Koski is No. 5 in the 1,000 freestyle, No. 7 in the 200 freestyle and No. 8 in the 1,650 freestyle, and Will Freeman is ninth in the 1,650 freestyle.
