ATHENS, Ga. --- The Georgia divers will kick off the 2013 portion of the schedule this week in the Tennessee Diving Invitational.
The meet will take place Thursday through Saturday at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center. The springboard competitions will be held Thursday and Friday, with platform slated for Saturday.
"We're looking forward to heading up to Tennessee and getting the second half of the season started," Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. "This is always a good way to get it going again. We had a good fall and after the break we came back and trained for a few days. We had some good practices the last few days. Now we have a meet to show us where we're at and what kind of work we need to do when we come back."
Laak will take his full squad to this week's meet: Ann-Perry Blank, Bobby Chambless, Haley Goodman, Ansley Long, Darcie O'Brien, Laura Ryan and Kelly Thatcher.
Blank, Long, O'Brien, Ryan and Thatcher have Zone B qualifying scores already. Tennessee will host the Zone B Championship - the only way divers can advance to the NCAA Championship - in March.
Joining Georgia and host Tennessee will be 15 schools, including five others from the SEC - Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU and Missouri.
"I'm glad several SEC teams will be there," Laak said, "because it will be good to see how we stack up with them."

Georgia's swimmers will be back in action Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Savannah against Savannah College of Art & Design and North Carolina State. The final home dual meet will held Saturday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. against Texas. Georgia's seniors will be recognized in a pre-meet ceremony.
