KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- Georgia diver Laura Ryan won the women's 3-meter springboard title on Monday at the Zone B Championships, securing her place in next week's NCAA Championships.

Ryan, the SEC champion on 3-meter, scored 356.55 points in prelims and 345.95 in finals for a total of 702.50. North Carolina State's Rachel Mumma, Tennessee's Jodie McGroarty and Miami's Carrie Dragland placed second through fourth and also qualified for the NCAAs, which will be held March
21-23 in Indianapolis.

"Laura did exactly what she needed to do," Georgia diving coach Dan Laak said. "She was strong on her first list and built up a lead of about 20 points, then she was solid on her second list. I'm pretty proud of her for hanging in there and doing what it took to make it to next week."

The Lady Bulldogs' Ann-Perry Blank advanced to the finals and came in 13th with a total of 592.25 points. Ansley Long (255.90) and Darcie O'Brien (238.45) were 26th and 31st, respectively, in prelims.

Ryan will join Georgia's 17 swimmers at the NCAAs. The remaining Georgia divers can qualify on 1-meter on Tuesday or platform on Wednesday. Said Laak, "Our divers are into the flow of the meet now, and we're hoping for big things as we move forward."
