Application Checklist for MS-Non-Thesis in Athletic Training

Apply for the Graduate Assistantship in Athletic Training

  • Complete and send in the UGA Athletics Association athletic training assistantship application
    • Grad Assistant Applications are due November 15
    • Please check in early Sept. for that year's application form
  • After we review your GA application, we will invite select candidates to apply to the graduate school and Kinesiology dept. following the steps below:


Apply to the Graduate School - Selected applicants only
  • application for admission
  • application-processing fee
    • $75 application-processing fee. The fee is non-refundable and cannot be deferred or credited toward tuition.
    • It must be paid online at the time the application is submitted using a credit card or electronic check, drawn on a U.S. bank account. Do not select fee waiver options.
  • Transcripts
    • Two official transcripts (in sealed envelopes) from each institution of higher education attended, except the University of Georgia. We can't use the ones you sent already, as they are no longer "official."
    • Transcripts must be submitted by the application deadline.

    • Transfer credits posted on a transcript from a different institution are not acceptable. The original institution's transcript must be submitted.

  • entrance test scores (GRE)
    • UGA institutional code for ETS reporting: 5813
    • Unofficial scores are not acceptable. The testing agency must send scores directly to UGA
  • letters of recommendation
    • Kinesiology requires three letters of recommendation
    • List the names of recommenders in the fields on page three of the grad school application along with their e-mail addresses.
    • The recommenders will receive a link to access a secure page where they can submit your recommendation quickly and easily via the Web.
All of these items should be completed by early January

  • Graduate assistantship application

    • Complete online and email or fax to Dr. Cathy Brown Crowell (browncn@uga.edu; 706-542-3148f) and Melissa Farmer, kins@uga.edu
    • You must complete this form for the department, regardless that your actual assistantship comes from Athletics.
    • Rank the first option "Athletic Training Clinical" 1. Do not rank any other options.
    • Check the certifications you have.
  • Purpose statement
    In a typed statement describe your interest in Kinesiology, graduate education goals, and career objectives. Usually 1-2 pages total

  • Research Interests Statement:
    A brief statement of your research interests and why UGA is a good fit for them. Usually 1 page. This must be done even though you are in a non-thesis program.

  • Interest in The University of Georgia Statement
    Why are you applying to the graduate program in Kinesiology at UGA (e.g., reputation of program, work with a particular professor, recommended by friend or college professor, location of University, etc.). Usually 1 page

  • Vita/Resume
    In a resume or vita summarize your work experience, certifications held, college distinctions (honors, scholarships, activities), title of Master's Thesis (if applicable), experience with computer use and research, and professional publications and presentations.

Selected candidates who complete the Graduate School and Kinesiology Department applications may be invited for phone and/or on-campus interviews in January.
