Sports Medicine Facilities

Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall

Located on the first floor of Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall is the University of Georgia Football Athletic Training Room. The Football Athletic Training Room serves the daily sports medicine needs of the football team. The athletic training room contains separate areas for treatment, rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, and taping.

This athletic training room is stocked with numerous treatment tables, massage tables, and taping decks. Several modality units, such as electrical stimulation units, ultrasound, laser units, diathermy, deep muscle stimulator massage units, and a hydrocollator are placed around the treatment tables for convenient use. A Cybex machine is available for strength testing and rehabilitation of various injuries. A KoreBalance force plate is also available for rehabilitation purposes. The Football Athletic Training room has two bikes (one recumbent and one upright), an upper body ergometer (UBE), SportsRac, Versa Climber, and a Stairmaster. Other rehabilitation tools include Theraband and tubing, dumbbell and cuff weights, Swiss balls, Bosus, foam rolls, and step blocks.

The hydrotherapy room is adjacent to the area utilized for rehabilitation. It is housed in a room with glass doors and windows which allow for adequate supervision of hydrotherapy treatments while reducing the noise level to the remainder of the facility. The hydrotherapy room contains two low-boy unit whirlpools, one permanent six-person cold whirlpool, an underground pool with treadmill, an ice machine, and a freezer.

The Football Athletic Training Room is staffed by three full-time athletic trainers, two graduate assistant athletic trainers, the administrative assistant, and approximately eight athletic training students. The athletic training room has two staff offices, one graduate assistant office, and a doctor's exam room equipped with C-Arm fluoroscopy technology.

Stegeman Coliseum

The Stegeman Coliseum Athletic Training Room is the primary athletic training room for all Olympic sport athletes at the University of Georgia. It was refurbished and redesigned in October 1997. It accommodates the needs of over 400 athletes.

This athletic training room is stocked with numerous treatment tables, massage tables, and taping decks. Several modality units, such as electrical stimulation units, ultrasound, laser units, diathermy, and a hydrocollator are placed around the treatment tables for convenient use. A Cybex machine is available for strength testing and rehabilitation of various injuries. A Balance Master is also available for rehabilitation purposes. The Coliseum Athletic Training room has three bikes (two recumbent and one upright), an upper body ergometer (UBE), SportsRac, treadmill, slide board, and a Stairmaster. Other rehabilitation tools include Theraband and tubing, dumbbell and cuff weights, Swiss balls, Bosus, foam rolls, and step blocks.

One of the highlighted areas in the Coliseum Athletic Training Room is the hydrotherapy room. This room is separated from the rest of the treatment area by a wall of windows to allow for adequate supervision of hydrotherapy treatments while reducing the noise level to the remainder of the facility. The hydrotherapy room contains four whirlpools, a HydroTrack, an ice machine, and a freezer.

The Coliseum Athletic Training Room is staffed by seven full-time athletic trainers, seven graduate assistant athletic trainers, one physical therapist, an insurance coordinator, and approximately 30 athletic training students. The athletic training room has five staff offices, a semi-private massage area, and a doctor's exam room.

Sanford Stadium

The Sanford Stadium Athletic Training Room is an adjunct athletic training room that is used for home football games only. It is a fully functional athletic training room that is located in the football locker room. It houses two taping deck and two exam tables. It doubles as an exam room for physicians during football games.

Coliseum Training Facility

Basketball Satellite / Gymnastics Satellite

The Stegeman Coliseum Training Annex houses practice facilities for the gymnastics team. A satellite athletic training room, which was entirely constructed in 2007, is immediately adjacent to the gymnasium. Glass sliding doors separate the two areas, allowing individual treatment and rehabilitation to take place simultaneously with team workouts under direct supervision.

This athletic training room is stocked with two treatment tables, a massage table, and taping deck. Several modalities, such as electrical stimulation units, ultrasound, a hydrocollator, ice machine/freezer, and whirlpools are available. The gymnasium houses several upright bikes, as well as an elliptical machine and a Cybex glider for active warm-up in conjunction with rehab. Other rehabilitation tools include tubing, dumbbell and cuff weights, medicine balls, Swiss balls, balance equipment, and foam rolls among other things.

The Gymnastics Satellite Athletic Training Room is staffed by one full-time certified athletic trainer.

Dan Magill Tennis Complex

The Dan Magill Tennis Complex Athletic Training Room serves the daily sports medicine needs of the men's and women's tennis teams. The athletic training room contains separate areas for treatment, rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, and taping. It is staffed by two graduate assistant athletic trainers.

Foley Field

The Foley Field Athletic Training Room serves the daily sports medicine needs of the baseball team. The athletic training room contains separate areas for treatment, rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, and taping. It is staffed by one full-time athletic trainer.

Gabrielsen Natatorium

The Gabrielson Natatorium Athletic Training Room serves the daily sports medicine needs of the men's and women's swimming and diving team. The athletic training room contains separate areas for treatment, rehabilitation, and taping. It is staffed by one graduate assistant athletic trainer.

Turner Soccer Complex

The Turner Soccer Complex Athletic Training Room serves the daily sports medicine needs of the women's soccer team. The athletic training room contains separate areas for treatment, rehabilitation, hydrotherapy, and taping. It is staffed by one full-time athletic trainer.
