Ryan Gearheart joined the University of Georgia Athletic Association in July of 2013 as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Director. He works with several sports including the Bulldog baseball, softball and diving programs.
Gearheart came to Georgia after spending the past two years in a similar capacity with the Kent State Flashes. While at Kent State, he worked directly with the football, baseball, field hockey and softball programs. Also, he served as a nutritional specialist for all the athletic teams and provided information and technology support in the athletic training facility.
He earned a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Middle Tennessee State in 2009 and a master's degree in Sport Management from Eastern Michigan in 2013. He has certifications as a Strength and Conditioning Coach (SCCC), Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), Level 1 Nutritionist (Pn1) and in Speed and Explosion for Team Sports (NASE).
Gearheart's work experience also includes a stint at D1 Sports Training in Nashville, Tenn., where he was a facility coordinator/head speed and strength coach. Also, he was a graduate assistant in strength and conditioning at Eastern Michigan University. After graduating from MTSU, he had a one-year internship at Ohio State with the football strength and conditioning staff.
A native of Columbia, Tenn., Gearheart now resides in Athens.
