Heather LaBarbera was named Director of Student Services for the UGA Athletic Association in the summer of 2011 following 11 seasons working with Lady Bulldog Basketball.
In her current position, LaBarbera oversees numerous student-athlete events and initiatives. She serves as co-advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and community service projects and works with the Student-Athlete Leadership Academy (LEAD). In addition, LaBarbera coordinates both the Athletic Association's internship program for fifth-year and medically exempt student-athletes and its student-athlete graduate assistantship program. She also chairs the Student-Athlete Honors Banquet committee.
LaBarbera served as the Lady Bulldogs' Director of Basketball Operations from 2003-11 following one season as an Administrative Assistant from 2002-03 and two campaigns as an undergraduate student manager.
As Director of Basketball Operations, LaBarbera handled a wide variety of responsibilities, including team apparel and travel, as well as coordination of many aspects of Andy Landers' successful summer camps. In addition, she served as liaison with the Fastbreak Club, the Lady Bulldogs' official booster organization.
LaBarbera is a 1998 graduate of Northwest Whitfield High where she was a two-year starter in basketball and also lettered in softball. She then played two seasons of junior college basketball at Chattanooga State College and started at guard as a sophomore.
LaBarbera received an associate's degree in general studies from Chattanooga State in 2000 and her bachelor's degree in Management from UGA's Terry College of Business in August 2002.
A native of Dalton, Ga., and the former Heather Byers, she married Mike LaBarbera, her high school sweetheart and also a former Lady Bulldog student manager, in May 2005. In March 2009, the LaBarberas welcomed their first son, Graylon and in December 2013 a daughter, Hazel.
