Steven Colquitt was named Associate Sports Communications Director in 2011. Since joining the UGA Athletic Association in 1998, Colquitt also has served as Editor of The Georgia Bulldog Magazine and Assistant Sports Communications Director.
Colquitt is the Sports Communications contact for the men's golf team and the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. He worked with golf in 1999 and 2005 when the Bulldogs won national championships and in 2000, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010 when they won SEC titles. Colquitt served as the Sports Communications contact for women's swimming and diving in 2006, 2010 and 2011 when the Lady Bulldogs claimed SEC crowns. He spent the 2009 season as the Sports Communications contact for gymnastics, which won the national championship.
In 2011, Colquitt was chosen as the Sports Information Director of the Year by Swimming World Magazine.
Colquitt coordinates the Athletic Association's photographic needs and has various media-related responsibilities with Georgia's other athletic teams, including football.
A native of Lexington, Ga., Colquitt graduated from the University of Georgia in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. He worked at the Athens Daily News/Banner-Herald from 1985-98, including the last year and a half as sports editor. In 1998, he was named sports editor of The Oconee Enterprise, a position he held briefly before assuming his post at Georgia.
Colquitt is a member of the Georgia Sports Writers Association and the College Sports Information Directors of America. He has won several writing and layout awards from the GSWA, CoSIDA, the Associated Press, the Georgia Press Association and the Associated Press Sports Editors. The 2005 golf media guide was judged by CoSIDA as the top men's guide in the nation and the second-best overall guide in the country.
Colquitt is married to the former Paige Harris of Crawford, Ga. They have two children, Catherine and Grant.
