Steven Colquitt was named Associate Sports Communications Director in 2011. Since joining the UGA Athletic Association in 1998, Colquitt also has served as Editor of The Georgia Bulldog Magazine and Assistant Sports Communications Director.
Colquitt serves as the Sports Communications contact for the men's golf team and the men's and women's swimming and diving teams. He has worked with five national championship squads: 1999 and 2005 men's golf, 2013 and 2014 women's swimming and diving, and 2009 gymnastics. Those squads also have combined for 12 Southeastern Conference titles: men's golf in 2000, 2001, 2004, 2006, 2009 and 2010 and women's swimming and diving in 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
Colquitt coordinates the Athletic Association's photographic needs and has various media-related responsibilities with Georgia's other athletic teams, including football.
Colquitt was chosen as the recipient of the 2013-14 UGA Athletic Association Dewey Dean Employee of the Year Award.
In 2011, Colquitt was recognized as the Sports Information Director of the Year by Swimming World Magazine.
A native of Lexington, Ga., Colquitt graduated from the University of Georgia in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism. He worked at the Athens Daily News/Banner-Herald from 1985-98, including the last year and a half as sports editor. In 1998, he was named sports editor of The Oconee Enterprise, a position he held briefly before assuming his post at Georgia.
Colquitt is a member of the Georgia Sports Writers Association and the College Sports Information Directors of America. He has won several writing and publications awards from the GSWA, CoSIDA, the Associated Press, the Georgia Press Association and the Associated Press Sports Editors. The 2005 golf media guide was judged by CoSIDA as the top men's guide in the nation and the second-best overall guide in the country.
Colquitt is married to the former Paige Harris of Crawford, Ga. They have two children, Catherine, a junior at UGA, and Grant, a sophomore at North Oconee High School.
