ATHENS, Ga. --- A $40 million expansion of Butts-Mehre Heritage Hall was approved Thursday by the University of Georgia Athletic Association Board of Directors at its regular quarterly meeting.
Also approved was the fiscal year 2010 budget of $71.4 million.
The expansion project of the football facilities will require 18-24 months to complete and will add approximately 53,000 square feet of new space. Construction is expected to begin around the first of July.
The project to expand the Butts-Mehre building by 53,000 square feet is expected to take 18-24 months to complete. Included in the project are a new weight training room, athletic training facility, a multi-purpose area, and new coaches offices and meeting rooms.
The original Butts-Mehre building was dedicated in the spring of 1987.
