Veteran SEC coach Neil Callaway was named offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at UGA in January, 2001, and has developed the Bulldog offense and offensive line into one of the SEC's best. In his five years at UGA, he's had seven lineman play in post season all star games, a first round draft choice, second round draft choice, fourth round pick, a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, and a total of nine players sign professional contracts.  During his five years at UGA, he has been part of a staff that has led Georgia to 52 victories, two SEC championships, three SEC Eastern Division titles, three bowl victories, and four top ten finishes in the final national polls. In 2002, the Bulldogs finished as the SEC's top scoring (32.14 ppg) and pass efficiency (138.91) offense and the 'Dogs were second in scoring offense in 2005.

Alabama (1974-77) -- Two-year letterwinner... played guard, tackle, defensive end, nose guard, and linebacker at various times for the Crimson Tide... Frank Thomas award winner in 1977 as the team's most outstanding athlete. Central H.S. (1970-73) -- Played linebacker and offensive guard.
| Callaway, a native of Macon, Ga., and graduate of Alabama, came to UGA after serving at Alabama as offensive line coach in 1997 and line coach and offensive coordinator from1998 to 2000. Prior to joining the Crimson Tide staff, he served as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Houston (1993-96). He was the long-time offensive line coach under head coach Pat Dye at Auburn (1981-92) where he coached Rodney Garner, an All-SEC offensive lineman for the Tigers. Callaway also served on Dye’s staff at Wyoming (1980) and at East Carolina (1978-79). He was inducted into the Macon (Ga.) Sports Hall of Fame in 2006. During Callaway’s tenure at Auburn, the Tigers won or shared four SEC championships and he produced four first team All-Americans and 14 All-SEC players. He developed Tide offensive lineman Chris Samuels into the nation’s top lineman and number three pick in the first round of the 2000 NFL draft. Callaway has coached in 12 bowl games and participated in two Sugar Bowls and one Orange Bowl as a player from 1975-77 under head coach Paul “Bear” Bryant. At Alabama he played five different positions during his career. In his four seasons coaching at Houston, the Cougars offensive line allowed just 19.5 sacks per season including only 10 sacks in his final year. Houston won the inaugural Conference USA championship while he was there. Callaway and his wife, Karen, have three children: Russ, Kate, and Clay.
