ATHENS, Ga. – University of Georgia sophomores Alisa Goler and Taylor Schlopy were named 2009 Easton Sports All-America First-Team selections according to an announcement made by Easton Sports, Inc., on Wednesday.

The Easton All-America recognition adds to an already impressive list of honors for both Goler and Schlopy. The sophomore duo have also been named All-America selections by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), named NFCA All-Southeast Region, All-Southeastern Conference First Team and were both selected to Women's College World Series all-tournament team.

Goler, a native of Frankfort, Ill., was a top 10 finalist for the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award, and she set several school and SEC records in 2009. Goler set school records for batting average (.455), slugging percentage (.994 – national leader), on-base percentage (.551), home runs (24), extra-base hits (41), runs-batted in (83), total bases (164), walk-to-strikeout ratio (6.00 – 36 walks/6 strikeouts) and "toughest to strikeout" (0.036 = 6 strikeouts/165 at-bats). She became just the second player in school history to lead in all of the "triple crown" categories – batting average, home runs and RBI. Jessi Cerra achieved the feat in both 1997 and 1998. In the SEC, Goler led the conference in home runs, RBI, total bases, slugging percentage and on-base percentage and was tied for the league lead in doubles (17). Her 83 RBI and .994 slugging percentage established new SEC records while her 24 home runs were one shy of the league record set by Alabama's Kelly Kretschman in 1998. Goler's on-base percentage was the seventh-best in league history, and her batting average was eighth-best.

Schlopy, a native of West Hills, Calif., was selected to attend the USA Softball National Team selection camp June 8-12, and she led the Bulldogs' in runs scored (71), walks (38), hit-by-pitch (14) and stolen bases (21-of-22). If not for Goler's school record totals in slugging percentage and on-base percentage, Schlopy would have set new marks both those categories by slugging .819 with an on-base percentage of .550, both of which ranked second behind Goler in the SEC. Schlopy's SEC leading 71 runs scored this season ranks tied third-best in school history while her 47 RBI were the league's 10th-best total this season. Her batting average of .406 checks in as the eighth-best single-season mark in school history and was fifth-best among the SEC in 2009. In the role of leader hitter, Schlopy batted .526, slugged 1.105 and reached base at a .686 clip.
