The Suzanne Yoculan Gymnastics Center as part of the new Coliseum Training Facility. “This
is so overwhelming,” former Georgia gymnastics head coach Yoculan, the
namesake of the new center, explained at the dedication ceremony
Friday. “I don’t know how to describe it, and I don’t know how to thank
everyone who has been a part of getting this done. I have learned that
if you strive for perfection, you reach excellence. That’s what we have
here today.” The facility, which also houses men’s and women’s
basketball offices and practice gyms, allows the Gym Dogs to move from
across campus in the Ramsey Center to train in a top-notch facility
attached to Stegeman Coliseum where they hold their home competitions.
This is the first time Gym Dogs have had a facility of their own,
something Yoculan expressed her team is very thankful for. “Not
that we mind sharing, but it’s so nice to have a home of our own for
the first time,” she said. “We truly have something that Georgia
gymnasts past, present and future can be proud of.” |
