“Garrett and Campbell are great additions to our program,” Diaz said. “We will certainly count on them to carry our program forward as we compete for national and conference championships in the years to come. They are both accomplished players in singles and doubles and they continue to improve daily. Garrett and Campbell have great upside. They are good kids and good competitors, and we are looking forwards to having them in the program.”
Brasseaux, a senior at St. Paul’s School, is currently ranked as the No. 1 player in Louisiana and the No. 17 player in the country. He has played in International Tennis Federation tournaments in North America, South America and Europe, and has one singles title and two doubles titles.
Brasseaux has also competed in the USTA Southern Section where he won the Southern Closed in the 12s, 16s and 18s. He has been ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section and was a state champion as a freshman. His older brother Andrew is a member of the tennis team at Wake Forest.
Johnson, a senior at Bridgeway Academy, is ranked No. 6 in California and No. 18 nationally. He spent the majority of the past year on the ITF circuit, playing tournaments in Canada, Mexico, El Salvador and Costa Rica as well as traveling most of the United States. He is ranked No. 4 in Southern California, considered to be the toughest and deepest section in the nation.
Earlier this year, Johnson was a singles semifinalist at the U.S. Junior International Hardcourt Championships and the Jalisco Junior Cup in Mexico. He was also a doubles finalist at the Kentucky International Junior Tennis Derby and the Jalisco Junior Cup. Johnson’s older brother D.J., was a member of the tennis team at Purdue, and his brother Alex currently plays at Arizona.
