ATHENS, Ga. --- Georgia freshman defensive end Montez Robinson has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week, according to a league announcement on Monday.
 
Robinson, a 6-5, 250-pound native of Avon, Ind., exploded for a career-high five tackles, including two sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss, during Georgia’s 38-0 shutout of Tennessee Tech. Coming off the bench to help fill the void for injured starter Justin Houston, Robinson had the team’s second-most tackles in the game as Georgia piled up six sacks and 15 tackles for loss versus the Golden Eagles.
 
Robinson anchored a Bulldog defense that held Tennessee Tech to only 55 yards of total offense, which was the second-lowest output by a Bulldog opponent in school history. It was the first shutout for Georgia since the Bulldogs silenced UAB 34-0 in 2006. Georgia’s win was also the first shutout for the Bulldogs on Homecoming since they blanked Kentucky 21-0 in 1981.
 
This is Robinson’s first weekly conference. The Bulldogs have had two other SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week awards this year. Houston received the honor following his performance against Arizona State and senior defensive tackle Geno Atkins received the honor after the Vanderbilt game.
 
The Bulldogs return to action against #25 Auburn at Sanford Stadium in Athens on Saturday, Nov. 14. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN2.
