PALM SPRINGS, CALIF.-----University of Georgia junior Cameron Ellis wrapped up a perfect showing at the Duals in the Desert event Sunday, beating Abby Liu (Texas) 6-1,6-3.
Ellis went a combined 7-0 in singles and doubles here in the final fall tournament of the season for the Bulldogs. She went 4-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles with senior Naoko Ueshima. Stacey Lee (Northwestern) defeated Ueshima 6-3,6-2 Sunday. The round-robin event featured only one round of singles Sunday.
“It was an impressive showing by Cameron and an excellent way to end the fall season,” said Georgia coach Jeff Wallace. “Any time you come to a tournament and win all your matches, that's exciting."
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Jan. 15 when they play host to the Georgia Invitational. The first dual match of the indoor season is Jan. 24 when Georgia plays host to South Florida.
