NEW HAVEN, Conn.-----Georgia junior Javier Garrapiz fell to Texas' sixth-ranked Dimitar Kutrovsky, 6-3, 7-6 (5), in the first round of the ITA National Indoor Tournament Thursday at Yale University. Garrapiz will now play in the consolation draw beginning Friday.

The Huesca, Spain, native is Georgia's lone representative in the ITA grand slam event. He was one of 12 players to receive an at-large bid.

"Javi had a tough opponent going up against the No. 1 player from Texas," associate head coach Will Glenn said. "He lost the first set, but fought back in the second set, got it to a breaker but just came up short. We are moving forward and he has a good chance for a few wins in the back draw."

Garrapiz, ranked No. 37, will face Texas Tech's 25th-ranked Raony Carvalho in the first round of the consolation draw Friday at 3:30 p.m. Carvalho fell to Oklahoma State's No. 2 seeded Nedovyesov Olekesandr in the first round.

Georgia senior Nate Schnugg won the consolation draw of the National Indoor Tournament in 2008.
