ATHENS----The Georgia Bulldogs enjoyed a productive two-hour workout Wednesday as they continue preparations for their Homecoming contest with Tennessee Tech.

“The coaches were coaching hard and the players were working hard and competing,” said Georgia coach Mark Richt. “It was a good, physical day, and I liked what I saw. They got after it, and I saw no signs of giving in, there was a lot energy.”

Richt praised the play this season of sophomore specialists Drew Butler and Blair Walsh. Butler leads the nation in punting with a 49.7 yard average while Walsh is 12-for-13 on field goal attempts and is 72-for-72 in PATs in his career.

“They have done a fantastic job for us,” said Richt. “They decided they wanted to be great, they are focused and have worked their tail off. They could be the best tandem in the country, and they are both sophomores.”

On the injury front, Richt said junior offensive lineman Clint Boling is fine and practicing at full speed. However, Richt announced that redshirt sophomore defensive end Neland Ball has been medically disqualified due to a chronic back issue.

Ball, a 6-6, 236-pound native of Jackson, Ga., had not played this season. After a redshirt season in 2007, he saw action in five games in 2008. Then, he missed spring drills following patella tendon surgery this past January. The Bulldogs will have junior defensive end Kiante Tripp back this Saturday. He has played in just one game this year, seeing action against South Carolina.

“I’ve seen a lot of energy and effort from Kiante this week,” said Richt.

Saturday’s kickoff is set for 1:06 p.m. ET, and it will be televised on a pay-per-view basis. Cable and satellite systems in both Georgia and Tennessee will be offered the telecast with an individual subscription price of $29.95. For fans in Georgia and Tennessee, the telecast will also be available on the UGA Athletics official website (www.georgiadogs.com) for $19.95.

Regular “GXtra” subscribers to the website may view the contest for $14.95. The game will be a College Sports Southeast (CSS) production, and it will feature the familiar broadcast team of Matt Stewart (play by play) and Buck Belue (color analyst) plus sideline reporter Sandra Golden.
